FLOCUS CERTIFICATION FOR ORGANIC COTTON
Flocus has great news for customers that need certified organic cotton – kapok blended yarns. We are now able to offer kapok-organic cotton blends with OCS certification.
ORGANIC CONTENT CERTIFICATION
Pesticides, fertilizers and other polluting chemicals are used in cultivation of the regular cotton. Since it is impossible to determine whether the fiber, yarn or fabric was made of organic or regular cotton, there is a strong need for a tracking system. To ensure that the organic cotton is used the monitoring starts at the farm and continues until spinning, and extends also to fabric and to garment creation. Such tracking systems are provided by certification programs like OCS (Organic Content Standard) or GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard). As you may expect, it rises the costs of the yarn. However, it is necessary to enure that the proper cotton is used in the process.
Flocus Yarns with OCS Certification:
- Ringspun / siro spun / compact spun / open-end between 6s-40s NE: containing 20%-30% Kapok.
- In open-end we can spin up to 50% Kapok.
- In ringspun we can offer 60s NE but NOT with organic cotton, because the staple length of organic cotton is shorter than the one of regular cotton.
Flocus blends Kapok with BCI cotton and other fibers such as: tencel, viscose, polyester, recycled polyester, etc. Email us and request the stock yarn-list to test Flocus (kapok blended) yarns.
